Editorial responsibilities included both daily assignment of news coverage and long-range planning for major events, as well as critique and review of news staffers’ work product. Launched and developed news content for the station’s website, 630WMAL.com. Wrote and produced daily morning drive newscasts. Performed news anchor duties as needed. Administrative duties included the planning and execution of a large departmental budget; hiring of news staff; capital and non-capital purchasing and general department head duties. Also provided critical counsel in all phases of station operations, including:

o         Teaming with Operations Director in decision-making over show talent

o         Writing and producing on-air station promos

o         Developing concepts for station promotional events and contests

o         Analyzing and disseminating Arbitron ratings

Created the position as Washington’s first morning drive street reporter. Covered every type of news imaginable, from crime and investigative stories, to election coverage, breaking news and features.
