John Matthews is a lifelong Washingtonian.  He grew up in Silver Spring, Maryland, where he followed his mother into a career in journalism.  Linda Holm covered Montgomery County politics for the Journal newspaper, and she helped John get his first job as a reporter at the age of 15, writing Little League game summaries for the Journal. Throughout junior high and high school, John pursued his goal for a career in radio.  He hosted his first "on-air" show over his school's public address system in eighth grade, and later, at Springbrook High, served as the school's P.A. announcer both before school and during football games.

After attending Syracuse University, John interned at WMAL Radio in Washington, and spun his first job as station receptionist into a 25-year career at the heritage AM Talk station.

John enjoys collecting and editing vintage TV programs, and therefore believes TiVo is truly a divine gift.  He is also an avid collector of all things Disney, and an acknowledged expert on Disney theme parks, with more than 75 trips to Walt Disney World and Disneyland under his belt.  John is a both a proud owner in the Disney Vacation Club and an inaugural member of the Mickey Moms Club!

John now lives in Brookeville, Maryland with his wife, Robin, a Montgomery County school teacher, and sons Brad and Spencer.
